Windows
Laptop still refusing to start Windows despite several attempts. All my recent work and photos are on the Desktop, including all the work for the pending Church Magazine. Suicidal thoughts pass calmly before me........
have you tried starting it in safe mode? - then you should be able to run antivirus software and (hopefully) restore windows to last known good configuration.
to enter safe mode - when you turn the computer on there should be a series of beeps (the POST - Power On Self Test) - as sooon as you hear that hit the F8 key repeatedly until you get an option to boot in safe mode. (if you get a keyboard error turn it off and try again)

Don't panic. Can you boot off the utilities cd?
Which version of windows are you running?

Not commenting. Read my mind. Think fruit.
;-)
I just found a bit in last months Vista magazine about Restoring Your PC when it won't boot. I'll drop it off at the rectory this morning some time.
I'm running Vista. I have tried all the options in F8 and get a blue screen then death in EVERY option!
ERP - I don't have a utilities CD as far as I know!
It might have to be the hospital!
And Chris..... I'm NOT going down the Apple Road! I need sanity in my life.
