That's Mark Driscoll, and he's crazy. If you want to feel kicked in the gut about any kind of real theology, just read some of the stuff he writes or watch his videos. He's right in his mind about everything he says, and he can't see any kind of distinction between fiction (can't even see metaphor to relate the lives people are living to the gospel) and his narrow worldview.
I reject the church because it's boring, costs money for which you get nothing, wastes time (and on my one day off), seems to have leadership and membership mostly composed of old ladies of both sexes and is based on myths and stories nobody really believes. Plus, I've noticed that places where religion is weak there seem to be fewer criminals, fewer illiterates, fewer rapes/assaults and higher levels of education. Between the Fundiegelicals and the rapidly dying mainline/NPR at prayer/Lib Democracy in a cassock, I see no essential differences.

This man is way off base. Agree with you: he needs help.
